George Washington's 1789 Thanksgiving Proclamation
“Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me to ‘recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:’” and it was done!
It is a privilege for us to have the freedom to study history as it was written by our first President & to be able to celebrate the beginnings of our nation. We at Happy Valley School hope that you will have the opportunity to gather with family & friends during this holiday season that begins with Thanksgiving & continues through the New Year. Our blessings in America truly know no bounds. We express our deep appreciation again to those who have given so much for the price of our freedom. Please keep our troops all over the world in your thoughts & prayers as you celebrate this season.

Online School Survey
The Arizona State Charter Board has posted an online survey for parents at http://www.asbcs.state.az.us/. Please visit the website & fill out the brief survey by November 30.
Enrollment Information . . . . for the 2008-2009 school year will be available in January, 2008. Students currently enrolled will have priority enrollment status until February 15, 2008. Open enrollment begins after that.
Thank you again, students, staff & parents for all of your hard work that has earned Happy Valley School the designation of an Arizona Excelling School, the highest award that schools can earn for academic performance. Many of our kindergarten students are already reading & others are getting very close. Thank you, parents, for reading at home with your students & for supporting your children’s teachers. Your child’s success is our mission. We truly appreciate your vote of confidence by entrusting your children’s education & future to us.
Arizona Tax Credit
Did you know that you can get a tax credit on your Arizona Income Tax for payments made to Happy Valley School in support of extra-curricular activities? The tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar credit or refund of up to $400 for married couples filing jointly, or $200 for single persons or married persons filing separately. A form to fill out & the explanation of the law is attached. This is a way to determine how your tax dollars are spent. All contributions for 2007 must be made by December 31, 2007. Thanks.
After School Programs
Because of the short week, the after-school programs will not be held today or tomorrow. No Art, Science, Sports or Chess this week. See you next week.
